The infamous match of 3 halves. The referee was delayed and in the meanwhile the teams played the first half with a local referee (John Conqueror of Southwick) officiating. Sunderland lead 3-0 at the break with goals by Campbell 15m, Hannah and Hyslop 40m. The appointed official then arrived and demanded that the half and score was scrubbed from the record, and the full 90 minutes played with him officiating. So Sunderland effectively beat Derby 11-0 over 2 hours 15 minutes!
