The fixture arranged was against Church Institute, however heavy snow lead to that team telegraphing Sunderland at various times to prevent them travelling. The telegrams were mever received, SAFC turned up to find most of the Institute team had not turned up, believing the game postponed. So the other Auckland team offered to step in and give them a game.
